Homework made easy with Telkom and Encyclopaedia Britannica

One of the things that comes with having children of school going age is projects and orals and the dreaded homework.

When I was at school we used to go to the library to research projects and orals. I remember my mom photo copying pages and pages for us to take home to use. With the arrival of the internet the trips to the library are less and less but it is also not as simple as searching “facts about Jupiter” because you end up with a trillion search results and not all of them are written in a way that a child can easily read so I end up finding suitable info and then the kids will read it and do the work. It is a pain and time consuming.

ENTER Telkom and Britannica Online!!!

All Telkom fixed broadband subscribers get free access to the awesome Encyclopaedia Britannica.

Britannica Online is divided into three learning areas ensuring that the content is age-appropriate: Primary Britannica (for ages 5 – 11), Student Britannica (for ages 12 – 16) and Encyclopaedia Britannica (suited to ages 17 upwards). It delivers quick and easy access to high-quality, comprehensive information suitable for all.

It’s so great that it is used by children and adults alike as it provides a trusted source of information on all topics imaginable. Research any subject, knowing that the information is up-to-date and accurate, thanks to contributors who are experts in their field and editors who fact-check all the content.

Doesn’t that just sound fantastic! I can’t wait for the kids to come home with a project 🙂 It is going to make life loads easier.

We use Telkom and I can honestly say we have never had issues with our line or the service we received from them.

Why choose Telkom as your service provider? Telkom offers fast, reliable Internet connectivity and fixed broadband allows for wireless connectivity within the home. This means that you can sit at the pool with your tablet device, laptop or smartphone and connect wirelessly to the Internet – without incurring additional costs for Internet connection. What’s even better is that multiple devices can access the wireless network, allowing multiple users within the range of the modem/router the ability to remain connected to the Internet.

For more information go here. If you are a Telkom subscriber and have kids then you NEED this!!!

When your kids have projects to do, do you still take out books for them or do you google?

  1. Mmm…the Encyclopedia sounds great, but I would rather chew off my own leg than do business with Telkom ever again. Last paragrpah here -> http://louisa123.wordpress.com/2012/07/31/like-a-locust/ and last paragraph here -> http://louisa123.wordpress.com/2011/01/18/all-kinds-of-blah-blah/…and since that they have actually black listed me for someone else’s account (which should be cleared in the next month or two). So I am definitely NOT a fan.

Luckily we’re not at school project age yet, so I can’t really say how we would go about doing it yet. 😉

  2. I don’t have a Telkom line at the moment. I used to have one and then the cables got stolen. Don’t think I’ll go back to them but this does look like quite a nice product. Must check what this or something similar will cost. I send Child2 to the library, usually with instructions but sometimes I don’t even need to provide him with guidelines. I want him to find books and collect and summarise facts etc because I do believe that this is a life skill. We do occasionally use the internet for projects if the books are not clear enough on the subject or if he remembers that he has a project like the night before it is due!
