Thursday Things – things making me happy!

So going from no brown suitcases for the wedding to 6 just like that – turns out my mom had two she is giving me. So another thing crossed off and I found gum boots yesterday -thanks to a mom from Moms and Tots. So I am rocking this wedding planning thing at the moment!!

When the kids saw the boots they weren’t fussed much until I said I am wearing them for the wedding. Kiara actually laughed until she couldn’t breath any more. She had tears streaming down her face! Cameron was horrified “WHAT? You are supposed to wear high heels???”.

I own 2 pairs of high heels and I am not even sure they can be classed as high and I only wear them to weddings so really I am not about to tempt fate and walk down the isle in heels! Gum boots it IS! My kids will just need to deal with :-p

Do you find gumboots hysterically funny? Or not proper like my son?

I am pmsing and very tense so decided to focus on the positive rather than have a moan so here are a few things making me happy….

  • My new washing machine. I will admit I do miss the size of the other one but I love this one just as much. And it is nice to have one that works :)
  • Gluten-free sweet potato loaf I found at The Bread Basket today! It is so good I am actually not sure it really is gluten-free but my dietician recommended it and I did ask before I bought it :)
  • End of term slow wind down. Last Friday was the last Friday gala, we have the big one on Wednesday next week and, school cricket matches ended last night. One more club match on Saturday and then that’s done.
  • All the wedding stuff all over the house. There are bird cages on books, bottles, suitcases, lace, goodies for the kids party packs – LOVE IT!
  • My blue pool. Yes it is STILL blue :)
  • Tabard candles – they seem to be keeping the flies away!
  • ANTRAPS – I have tried for years to keep the ants at bay in this house, my mom suggested those green ant traps and they are brilliant!!!!! LOVE THEM!
  • Planning a little ladies tea – I need a small time out and looking forward to spending time with these ladies :)

  3. Antraps are the best, I recommend them to anyone.

    I also cannot walk like a lady in high heels. And I was petrified of tripping in heels as I walked down the aisle, so I got ballet flats made for me (in a material that was used in other places in the wedding) at turning point. It was definitely the best idea ever not to wear heels, I was comfortable the whole wedding and the reception. A friend of mine also didn’t want heels and got hers in lime green for her wedding last year.

  6. Gumboots are very cool for weddings! I have seen some stunning wedding photoshoots with them.

    Things making me happy:
    Tomorrow is Friday.
    My kid ACTUALLY got invited to a birthday party which takes place this weekend.
    The possibility of a beach swim tomorrow after work.
    A breakfast friend date on Sunday.
    Most of the exam/project stuff over by tomorrow.

  9. Love the gumboots idea, just hope its not a hot day though and take other shoes for later. The can get a bit uncomfortable and very hot. No signs of slowing down at our school. Netball has just started.

    That the fun run is over ( was tonight) and a good nights sleep.
    Project life- totally loving it and looking forward to do this week.

  10. Rock the gum boots!! I’ve seen horrible things at weddings! this is NOT bad. anyone who knows you will find it funny and the rest can shove it!! heck we went barefoot at mine!

    I am seriously excited to see your wedding photos…it is going to be awesome.

    - Peace and quiet.

  14. Gum boots – too cool! Wish I had thought of that!!
    Tabard candles are awesome, I have three lit while I am cooking, and move them into the dining room when we eat. Love them, and I like the smell – not offensive at all!

Gumboots are cool (though I would not wear them for a wedding, just because I love my high heels plus my hubby is so much taller than me that even with 3 inch heels my head barely reached his shoulders ) but I would do like Cat say and have a change of shoe for later and also some pictures (so if 10 years down the line you hate the pictures and start wondering what you were thinking, you still have some pictures in other shoes). I would get ballet flats to change into if it gets too hot (except you don’t mind going barefoot)

    My friend wore hot red gumboots for her wedding.
