Tuesday – Wedding Gift Registries

I have a lot to say today but most of it involves swearing about Kiara’s teachers and venting about an incident that happened but it seems a little inappropriate to do it here until I have addressed the issue with the school. I do suspect though, that this may be the start of a little Angry Mom vs The Grade 4 Teachers war. Fun times….NOT!

What I am going to say is if anyone else tells me to calm down they will find themselves severely wounded. Unless you have a child who has learning challenges you will never know what it feels like and you do not have the right to tell me (or any other mother in a similar situation) to calm down.

Alright then – moving swiftly along onto shiner and brighter things. I may bore you all to death with my wedding stuff but I need some pretty today so I thought I would put together a little wish list of goodies I would like :)

I would REALLY love a new gas stove – I know I have previously said I am nervous of gas but I have the worst stove now and my oven is older than I am (I know this because we had one in the house I grew up in) and it is so nice cooking on gas!!!

Then pretty much anything from Le Creuset but a few of my favourites are this mixing bowl – I can’t explain how much I love it.

And this wok would make me very happy :) Isn’t it cool – you don’t need to plug it in (we have one like that now and never use it).

I would love a coffee maker – David says they are pointless but I am at home during the day and would love to have coffee on call :)

I added linen on our Mr Price registry – we have a fair amount but a lot of it is nearing it’s sell by date so new sheets and pillow cases would be awesome!

Oh and teaspoons :-p We never seem to have enough teaspoons :)

If you had to set up a gift registry today – what would you put on?

  1. I am seeing myself in you in about 5 years time…..

Anyways, onto brighter things- you want a gas hob but not a gas oven, unless you buy the very ( expensive) best gas ovens are not on par with electric. Best oven still around for baking- a Defy thermofan. We love our espresso maker – way more this it can do than just a coffee maker.

  2. I no a lot of people don’t like to give money, but I always think money is a nice gift for a wedding. You can then go out and buy what you want! Wish we were going to be with you on this very special day :(

  3. Sorry about the situation with Kiara’s teachers, hope it gets sorted before anyone gets wounded!

Hmmm, since it is sometimes considered inappropriate to ask for money, In my dreams, I will ask for a new stove and double oven set or just a total home makeover ;-) ;-)

Realistically, some plush hotel style bed linen (you know those type that feel like you sink into the bed when you lay on it) Yaaaaawn, I am feeling sleepy just thinking about it :-) I literally yawned after I typed this

  4. I really need nothing but how about an account set up at Mr P Home so I can just swipe a gift card for the next year or so :)

I bought a turquoise casserole dish on Sat – it makes me SO happy to look at it that it’s still out on the kitchen counter!

PS I’m super curious about the school drama

  5. Love the pic of the gas stove would love one like that in my kitchen as well @ the moment i just have the gas stove top but would love the oven as well (reduces cooking time and the gas bottles arent that pricey either. As for the coffe machine the combo one is also nice where u can make filter coffee and other coffees as well.

  6. I hope you have a lot of rich guests…and that you get the gifts you love.

I could never live without my coffee maker…it even went with us to Teniqua Treetops. I need my cuppa in the morning. I hope you get things sorted with Kiara’s teacher. I remember stormy times when my boys were young. I was always the one that had to do the sorting out when I felt my children were wronged. Hell has no fury like a mother protecting her children;-)

    • Lynette – you hit the nail on the head there. I told a friend the exact same thing today!!!

Baglady – I can see that being the best present :)

  7. Sooooo sorry about the school crap. Hope your meeting is successful.
I would ask for money. Seriously. I would like to buy my own stuff OR use it towards a big appliance OR maybe towards my honeymoon, especially if we’re going to be going abroad.
The last wedding I went to had a website set up with vouchers that you could buy for their honeymoon. Eg a couples massage or a diving lesson or a cooking lesson or whatever. I really liked that idea.

  8. Good luck sorting out the teacher! That’s really just very mean of her to do that.

I’m not a big fan or gift registries, so I’m the worst possible person to ask about that. I do know that you can never have enough teaspoons though, they seem to disappear along with the socks.

  9. I think it’s great that you have put up here what you would like for a wedding present. I’m sure you will get some of those things for sure.
I’ve read about the situation you currently experience with Kiara at school and I think it’s ridiculous what this teacher is doing. Never in my life I heard something like this, not even when I was in school. Are you going to make a fuss about this at school? I would have.
