Last night Cameron asked me if we could please spend a week with my mom in December learning how to cook. This is how bad I have been with cooking at the moment, I have literally been cooking all the things I know won’t fail and haven’t tried anything new in months. I think this is what prompted his request, he is desperate for something new. As a result my recipes on Tuesdays have all but stopped. It is something I am trying to work on.
While I get my act together I thought I would share 3 of my favourite recipe books. These 3 are our go to books for most things.
Sugar and Spice by Heilie Pienaar and Snowflake. We received this book in a Snowflake blog drop and it is such a great book. Kiara has made so many of the items, her favourite being the macaroni cheese but she also makes the doughnuts fairly often. Its a great book if you have a child who is keen to bake or cook, the recipes are nice and simple with images to help them.
The Student Cookbook of Curries. David bought this for me a few years ago for Christmas and I love it. We all enjoy curries and this book has every curry you can imagine! It tells you how to make some of the pastes you need for the curries and how to mix the spices. I have never made a curry from this book that hasn’t been amazing!
Just Cooking by St Olav’s Church. My mom gave me this book. My aunt’s church made it a few years ago and it is probably the most used recipe book I own. I use it mainly for the baking section. My aunt is a baker so I know her recipes will work and they always do. I have actually shared her Pecan Nut Pie and German Apple from the book (both very old posts so the images need an update).
What are some of your favourite recipe books?
