The family is a haven in a heartless world
We attended a wedding this weekend at Oxbow Country Estate . It was Davids step cousin. The venue was pretty but the service did leave a lot to be desired!
The view from our room.

But, thanks to Davids mom, we got to sleep over which is always fun
The room was very nice – it had the most enormous bed – really I think it was a super king size bed. We could barely see each other :-p See how totally huge it was.

The actual ceremony was boring long and in Afrikaans – so we both missed any message there may have been but the reception afterwards was lovely and relaxed. It was just family – there is lots of step/half siblings and parents – so once everyone was invited it made for a rather large get together
It did make me rather sad at one point – when she danced with her dad. My dad wouldnt do that with me. He doesnt dance and honestly wouldnt see the point. And then her mom was dancing which again, my mother wouldnt do.
It makes me sad that while, I suppose, my family is close – we are not close physically. There is almost no physical displays of affection and even less verbal affirmations of it.
I only realise it when I am around a family like this one, that is so close despite the chaos and dysfunction.
Anyway it was a lovely evening – lots of laughs and happy memories. And I was most proper and bonded with Davids mom.
I dont have a proper picture of what I looked like. I ended up going with the dress I wore to my brothers wedding (and will say I did feel alot over dressed actually). But here is me and my most awesome boyfriend.

Thank you Sally for taking the kids to Natashas party – your help is much appreciated!
It was a good weekend that ended with a sunday afternoon nap at home
Which in itself is a treat.
What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life – to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories. ~George Eliot
