I know this is a rather ill timed blog post considering I am sitting in two layers of clothes. I am a bit of a ninny when it comes to the cold though. While Jack Frost may be out and about the sun is also still very much shining, so the possibilities of getting burnt are still there. Many of us actually forget that, so I take it back, this is not an ill-timed blog post.
I am very quickly learning that not all sunscreens are created equally, especially the ones I use for the kids who are in and out of the pool during summer. We recently used a sunscreen that I was so disappointed with it. It claimed to be a SPF 50 but Jack still got burnt we applied it every time he got out of the pool.
The Eli & You natural sunscreen did not, however, disappoint.
For those of you who may not have heard of this brand, they are a really great organic range of skin care products.
Arno and Lynette Romijn and family packed-up and left a successful life behind to follow their quest ‘to get back to nature.’ They moved to the Karoo with its harsh conditions of extreme heat and cold. It is here where they re-discovered the goodness nature provides in terms of skincare. Their quest to live simply, naturally and close to nature provided them with much more than they ever expected.
They first developed skincare products to protect their family and this is how the Eli & You Baby Care Range came into being after years of research and trial and error. To their amazement they discovered that “the more natural, the more effective.” They developed a baby balm, baby oil, baby body wash, cradle cap oil and a blend for the relief of sinus or bronchial congestion.
The Eli & You skincare range later expanded to also include adult skincare products, which not only protects but also nourishes and nurtures the skin. Eli & You is nature’s love packaged.
With Cameron’s sudden onset of allergies I am now more focused on the contents of everything we use in the home, so the more organic it is the better.
The sunscreen we were sent to test is a natural sunscreen that has no preservatives and uses only organic products. It is water resistant and SPF 40+. It really is water resistant and while we did reapply it to the kids, we didn’t have to do it constantly. For me, what I liked most was that it does not leave your skin feeling oily. I can not apply sunscreen to the kid and I hate putting it on myself because a lot of them leave an oily layer all over. The Eli & You sunscreen does not do this AND it is almost odourless. Jack, particularly, is quite sensitive to smells and won’t let us put things on him that smell “funny” but this sunscreen has no odour so is not offensive to anyone.
Price wise it is a little bit more expensive but let’s be honest there are no cheap sunscreens out there. I would actually rather pay for this one because I know it has organic products in.
You can purchase all the Eli & You products through their online store. They are also on Facebook.
Disclaimer: I was not paid for this post but I was sent the sunscreen to review.
