Did you know that January is Oatmeal month. Well now you know! It is a little bit of useless information but I thought we would celebrate the pale, mousy brown little oat anyway. My kids enjoy oats and it is a great, quick breakfast for Cameron to have on the mornings he does morning training. We have also tried overnight oats and they were a hit as well.
It may look like a pretty insignificant food but there is a lot you can do with the oat. No really there is! I have 19 different recipes that support this.
These overnight oats all sound absolutely delicious, there is even one specifically for toddlers and breastfeeding mamas.
Strawberry Overnight Oats – this is a super easy recipe to make. I am not a huge fan of actual chia seeds but you could maybe blend them up with the milk and honey?
Blueberry Overnight Oats – I like that this one has yoghurt in as well and of course blueberries are awesome.
Banana Overnight Oats – ok so this sounds to be more like a dessert to be honest 🙂 It is a good one to make for the kids.
Overnight oats with lactation goodness – these overnight oats are perfect for all the breastfeeding moms out there. They are also easy to eat while you are feeding baby or to grab while baby is having a quick nap.
Toddler Overnight Oats – I don’t have to give Emma breakfast during the week, they get fed at school but this is a yummy recipe for those of you who do need to feed little ones in the morning.
Apricot and Blueberry Overnight Oats – The PeacheePear is probably one of my best finds for 2017. She blogs about food including healthy meals for toddlers. Seriously when you check this recipe out FOLLOW her, you won’t be sorry.
Baking with oats
Easy Granola – another great breakfast option that could not be easier to make. You could even add this to lunchboxes.
Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookies – If you don’t stop reading this and go to your kitchen to make these immeditely then I don’t know if you have a heartbeat!
Homemade Chewy Bars – these sound so yummy and the recipe comes with sugar, gluten and nut free alternatives, so something for everyone.
Slow Cooker Granola – yup you read right, this is a recipe for a granola made in the slow cooker. I have never really tried anything other than soups and stews in my slow cooker but this looks pretty awesome. It is also sugar free.
Oatmeal Crunchie – If you are South African I am pretty sure you grew up on the good old crunchie!
Candice’s Crunchies – these ones take the traditional crunchie one step further and add some chocolate. Seriously these crunchies taste like my childhood!
Breakfast Protein In A Mug – breakfast in a mug, to eat on the go while you get everyone in the car. We could all do with a few of these ideas right?
Pumpkin Protein Balls – ok so I will admit I am not sure I am ready for this recipe but I do like the sound of it.
Triple Berry Oatmeal bake – you could really serve this as a dessert! It sounds all kinds of yummy.
Good old oatmeal
Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal – this sounds perfect for cold winter morning!
Baked Oatmeal – I really like the sound of this meal. It is gluten free and is loaded with goodness! Well worth a try.
