I remember ages ago having a moan on twitter about how bloggers, in particular mommy bloggers, are almost forgotten in South Africa in comparison to our American and Australian counterparts.
This year certainly saw all that change for the better and the invites to a wide range of events, product reviews, giveaway opportunities have poured in all year – so much so that I have not been able to attend all of them.
Initially I accepted every invite and every product and I think even shared a few press releases but now I am more selective about what I accept and what I post. I am also not at that stage yet where I feel comfortable (or confident) enough to ask companies if I can host giveaways or even to hint towards product reviews.
I have had some amazing experiences though.
I have driven some amazing cars (and had some me-time) and got to see parts of Joburg I have never seen. Kiara and I got some one-on-one time while doing some good for abandoned animals. And there was a little year end pampering too.
I had a chef cook for me – in my house! We got spoilt with veggies to try out to make life easier for busy households.
We added some culture to our lives with a trip to the theatre – twice.
I attended all sorts of launches – nappies, websites, formula and baby products.
There were products to try out. Baby products, body lotions, party packs, frozen vegetables, stationery, a TrashCanKidz
I have hosted countless giveaways.
I even made it to a magazine feature.
It has been a really great year for my little blog and I am grateful for every opportunity I have received and look forward to an even better 2014.
Thank you to all the PR companies who have included harassedmom in their campaigns – it means a lot to me.
