3 Ways The Spindel Makes You A Better Parent

I am not particularly good at adult things like cooking and cleaning. Yes my family gets fed and some nights they get fed well but that’s where it begins and ends. I seldom do washing and I never iron. The older two now know how to use the washing machine and if they need something urgently they wash it themselves (yes, yes they do). Jane is an invaluable part of our family unit, she is the glue that keeps us all together. I honestly could do not run my own business if it were not for Jane.

But every now and then Jane is off or we have an emergency and I need to put a load of washing in. It is usually because someone is sick or forgotten they need something. While we do have a tumble dryer I don’t love using it. (My whole hippie save the earth vibe causes me to have guilt around using it).

Enter the SPINDEL!Why you need a Spindel in your life | HarassedMom

I have seen this product around and been keen to try it out, so when we were sent one I was super excited to see how it was going to help us!

We have had it for two weeks and while the rest of my family are a little skeptical, I love it. It has helped me out so much.

Before I tell you how much the Spindel has made my life easier, let me explain what it is first. It is, quite simply, a laundry dryer. It does not dry clothes like a tumble dryer but removes a lot of the excess water in the clothing to make it dry quicker. It is super simple to use, it doesn’t take up too much space so you can pack it away easily or even take with you on your holiday!

I see you wondering how it can make me a better parent, well here is how!

  1. Jack fell in the pool. Kiara and Jack were playing outside and running around the pool, Jack slipped and fell in. He was in his favourite pair of pj’s and insisted on wearing them again. No stress, a few minutes in the Spindel and then a few minutes in the tumble dryer – boom pj’s ready to wear. Seriously it took literally 10 minutes.
  2. I need a clean sports uniform. This has happened to all of my kids. Despite them knowing in advance, invariably at some point we find ourselves at bedtime with a kid saying “oh I need this to be washed”. During the summer it is ok, the stuff can dry overnight. It doesnWhy you need a Spindel in your life | HarassedMom‘t always work so well when it is winter. The Spindel makes it so easy to wash and dry in less time. After we have washed the clothes, we pop into the Spindel, it rinses all the excess water out and reduces the drying time dramatically.
  3. Rain and linen. If you are potty training, you will know all about piles of dirty linen. Fortunately we haven’t had a sick kid in a while but kids with upset tummies can lead to heaps of laundry. We have, however, found ourselves dealing with linen and rain. I don’t have a million sets of linen for each bed so we have to wash regularly. If it rains it is a mess, stuff just can’t dry and we have limited space to hang it. A few minutes in the Spindel and the items are so close to being dry. We are heading into rainy season (and swimming season) now in Gauteng and I know the Spindel is going to be invaluable.

Have you tried out the Spindel before?

Wow I’m so intrigued by this. Is it like the old school swim suit dryer at the pool sort of? Trying to figure out how it “works” Heck I love anything that saves time and looks nice :)!

I think it is as simple as just spinning the clothes but it is super cool and you have given me an idea for summer when the kids have finished swimming – we can pop their costumes in there.

Yeah you don’t add in everything. Just the stuff you need or the stuff that takes ages to dry if it is raining. Jane has figured it out and uses it daily now.
