When we were trying to get pregnant with Jack I remember thinking I was pregnant constantly. I must have done about a million tests every month in the hope I was pregnant. If I was nauseous, even for a minute, I would test. If my boobs were sore, I would test. It was pretty stressful to be honest and I am not sure why I put so much pressure on myself to get pregnant immediately.
Then when I did get the positive result I didn’t believe it so did about 5 more tests. Anyone else do this? Or was it just me?
When you are trying to fall pregnant, it can be very easy to fall into this pattern. There are a few signs that you are pregnant, some of them show up earlier than others.
If you are trying to get pregnant, these may be a few of the early signs that you are expecting.
Your period is late. This is one of the more obvious signs but is not a definite one. There are a lot of reasons you period could be late. If your period is regular then this may be your first sign, if you have other symptoms as well. I would wait more than a few days before doing a test though.
Exhaustion. I suffered terribly with exhaustion when I was pregnant with Jack. It was debilitating and that first trimester seemed never ending. Pregnancy exhaustion is not like being extra tired, you feel it in your bones and napping doesn’t seem to make the smallest of difference.
Sore boobs. This is another early sign you are pregnant. Your boobs may feel very heavy and sensitive, it is not a pleasant feeling at all.
Cravings. One of the few cravings I had was for salt crisps. Woolworths had a range of sea salt chips that I ate packets of. They helped with the nausea which may have been why I craved them. I started craving them with Emma before I actually knew I was pregnant. If you are suddenly craving something you don’t usually, you may want to do a pregnancy test.
Your emotions are all over the place. One of the sure fire signs you are pregnant is that you suddenly start getting more emotional about things that wouldn’t normally. I didn’t really get tearful, I got angry, very angry (and it lasted for 9 months).
Cramps are another early sign of pregnancy. These cramps are similar to the ones you experience when you have your period. If you don’t usually experience period pains then you may want to consider other symptoms you may be experiencing.
Frequent visits to the bathroom could be a sign you are pregnant. These changes are due to hormonal changes and a very common sign of pregnancy that will stay with you for your entire pregnancy.
How did you know you were pregnant? How far along where you?
