Yesterday the younger two kids and I took the Gautrain to Sandton and came home at 16h30, which is the worst time to be on the train with kids. It was PACKED, which makes sense and I get it.What really shocked me is how crap people are. We had to stand the whole way, which really was actually fine but what wasn’t fine was how people push and shove and are general assholes when getting on and off the train. I get it, people are tired and want to get home but EVERYONE is in the same boat. Pushing my 5 year old out the way isn’t cool, kicking my pram with my 2 year old in out of the way really isn’t cool. We have just as much right to be on the train as anyone.
Anyway we had a great time regardless and there were some really lovely people who did help us out (all of the young students just by the way).
Currently…
Watching: Well right now I am watching the Transformers, this sounds completely crazy but I work with it playing in the background and am my most productive. Really I am not even joking. But as a family we are watching the usuals, Big Bang, Modern Family, Goldbergs (guys don’t you LOVE Beverly), The Middle, The Chicagos, Criminal Minds.
Adapting to: Life with a tooth missing! Ok possibly this is slightly dramatic but it’s only been 2 days so when the pain meds wear off its still freaking sore. And like all of us I am adapting to a world where Donald Trump has the power.
Managing: To keep all the balls in the air at the moment. I have calendars with stuff written on everywhere so I don’t forget things (mainly so I don’t forget a kid somewhere) and so far I am actually getting it all right. I am also managing to keep up with my skin care routine and actually found an amazing product – its the Ponds Vanishing cream. I never knew what a vanishing cream really was but I asked for help on Twitter with my suddenly extremely oily skin and Megan recommended it. I LOVE IT! It gives my face a matte look, really guys this makes me happier than it probably should.
Excited About: Going to my mom! Always! My parent’s home has always been the calm in the storm, the place we get to recharge and are reminded how loved we are. We need that time out more than ever this year. I hate having my family so far away but it does make these holidays even more exciting and something we all look forward too.
Feeling Thankful For: My family. My kids teachers and their school. Both schools have supported and encouraged all of my kids this year and they have all allowed them the space to explore and be the best they can be. I haven’t always been kind about the teachers we have crossed paths with but I can say without a doubt that the educators my children have had this year have helped to give them wings and for that I am incredibly grateful.
What are you excited about??

I am exhausted and just as things are calming down a bit I realize that there are so many things to come. I am looking forward in singing in the Capital singers again – this time a lovely Christmas extravaganza

I’m very tired but I’m doing my best to keep refreshed by working from home some days, switching up my routines so I don’t feel stale but best of all, those exams are over so I can chill in the evenings now!
Stunning photos! I am also excited about the holidays.

lovely photos of ur kids, yep i think all of us us looking forward to December when hopefully things calm down a bit
Being in a packed train with small kids can be a very unpleasant experience, fortunately, like you say, there are still kind people in this world who recognises when a mother needs a hand. Also can’t believe that Christmas is around the corner!

Oddly I don’t really get excited at this time of year, so much going on and the countdown to Christmas seems daunting.

Gosh, a lot going on! You can feel the love in the inevitable chaos of kids, which is what’s most important 🙂 Gorgeous photos too:) Thanks for sharing Laura-Kim 🙂

I’m not in an exciting space atm. I’ve come to dislike Christmas as it feels like I must make magic just happen and I’ve come to prefer it when the kids are with the other parents.
Yay to family holidays. Cam is really talented, these photos are amazing. I am excited about camping for two solid weeks on the Keurbooms river…over Christmas.
