A few months (or maybe even as long as a year) ago, Cindy mentioned Kombucha and I remember googling it and thinking “nope that’s not for me” but then I received a bottle in one of my goody boxes from the Wellness Warehouse. I stared it down for a few days because honestly if you read up on it, it doesn’t sound like the next best thing. It also doesn’t look particularly appealing, a lot of them have bits floating around.
All in all it does a pretty bad job selling itself.
I eventually did get around to tasting it and I am now a kombucha convert. It is an acquired taste and you aren’t likely to offering to your book club friends or your mom support group but I am absolutely loving it! I recently tried out a beetroot one and while I am not a beetroot fan, this one was delicious.
So what is kombuch and why should you care?
Well in short is a fermented drink that is fermented by colony of bacteria and yeast. Yeah I know, not sounding so great is it?
But here is why you should at least give it a try.
- It promotes digestion
- It helps with detoxing
- It stimulates your immune system
- It has been proven to reduce cholesterol
- It can enhance your energy and weight loss.
I have been reading and learning about the importance of gut health. Not sexy but it is really important and kombucha is one of the things that can help you maintain a healthy gut.
