We said goodbye to Baby R today. He has gone into foster care with a really lovely family who were so excited to have him. It was hard though, really hard. I am so happy for him that he has been welcomed into a family who desperately want him but it was still hard. My heart is a little heavy today so lets focus on something trivial and happy – like food!
My mom makes our Christmas feast every year. We all sort of pretend to help but she ends up doing most of it. She goes all out – there is turkey, tongue, gammon and another roast. There are piles of roast potatoes, rice and to balance it all out there are some veggies too. It is all smothered in gravy and we eat until we are about to pop.
And then we push through to eat dessert! We aren’t ones to break with South African tradition so we have peppermint pudding, ice cream and my dad has a trifle (all made by my mom).
It is epic!
Obviously this year sine we aren’t going to them, I am preparing our lunch. I have bought 3 different types of roasts but that is as far as I have gotten! I am not sure yet how I am going to prepare them or what I am going to make with them.
So I want to hear what you are preparing for your Christmas meal? What dessert are you making? When do you have your big meal – Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
