What are you making for Christmas Day?

We said goodbye to Baby R today. He has gone into foster care with a really lovely family who were so excited to have him. It was hard though, really hard. I am so happy for him that he has been welcomed into a family who desperately want him but it was still hard. My heart is a little heavy today so lets focus on something trivial and happy – like food!

My mom makes our Christmas feast every year. We all sort of pretend to help but she ends up doing most of it. She goes all out – there is turkey, tongue, gammon and another roast. There are piles of roast potatoes, rice and to balance it all out there are some veggies too. It is all smothered in gravy and we eat until we are about to pop.Christmas Meal|HarassedMom

And then we push through to eat dessert! We aren’t ones to break with South African tradition so we have peppermint pudding, ice cream and my dad has a trifle (all made by my mom).

It is epic!

Obviously this year sine we aren’t going to them, I am preparing our lunch. I have bought 3 different types of roasts but that is as far as I have gotten! I am not sure yet how I am going to prepare them or what I am going to make with them.

So I want to hear what you are preparing for your Christmas meal? What dessert are you making? When do you have your big meal – Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

My fiance and I are both so busy…and I know that is often an excuse, but we are seriously both terrible in the kitchen. We always go to family on Christmas Day and contribute to the feast there by providing wine as well as other goodies that we take with us. We haven’t yet been game to try doing the catering ourselves.

Bittersweet moment for Baby R. Hope you’re feeling better. We’re visiting family for the holidays. I’m so happy I don’t have to cook this year but I’m hoping they have some tasty dessert. I want apple pie

I am glad that I don’t actually have to plan holidays. I feel like the traditions would all get dropped because I am always so busy during the holiday season, I couldn’t add anything else to it.

Hello! Christmas are the best. I have a few favorites that we do in my family, and have ever since I was little! They are too easy and fun not to do during the holidays. It’s all about creating memories!
