When I was working on the #MothersDayConnect campaign we are talking about our birth stories. I have never really shared any of my birth stories, not because they weren’t special but because they were pretty average. I had 4 elective caesars with no issues any time. The older two kids both came a few weeks early but never needed to go to NICU. I recovered quickly each time and each surgery was pretty text book.
What I have shared a few times is how much I didn’t enjoy being pregnant, every time. Of course feeling the babies kick was incredibly each time. The heart burn, nausea, exhaustion and emotional roller coaster ride was not really too incredibly.
I was browsing Pinterest earlier this week and saw some preggy moms and it got me reminiscing about what I enjoyed about being pregnant, because it wasn’t all bad.
The free pass to eat for two is always nice. While I don’t really believe you need to increase your food intake when you are pregnant. It is nice to say “the baby needs these two packets of chips and slab of chocolate” and none says anything (to your face at least).
You can nap whenever you want and few are brave enough to say you are being lazy. In fact people will encourage you to nap!
More often than not people will let you move to the front of the queue. This does also depend on how big you are and how tired you look. (Which if you were like me was pretty much my look for 9 months).
Pregnancy is a get out of jail free card when you don’t want to attend events. Ok, so maybe this one is just me but people don’t really mind if you don’t attend something while you are pregnant.
I don’t miss being pregnant. I am happy with our decision and the size of our family but there were some advantages of being pregnant.
What did you enjoy most about being pregnant?
