Reasons I Love Being A Mother

Reasons I Love Motherhood | HarassedMomHello February, the month of love and all things red and heart shaped!

Motherhood isn’t just about sleepless nights, piles of laundry and tantrums. It is actually pretty awesome and there are a lot of reasons I love being a mother.

There are always sweets in our home. Often they are hidden so well I can’t find them but I love that when the sweet craving hits, I can always find something, somewhere.

We spend a lot of time in the car between extra muruals (yes we still do, even now that we are homeschooling). I don’t enjoy the racing around but I now really enjoy the time with my older two. They both have a really great sense of humour and we have often over the past few weeks laughed so hard we have cried.

I love that I get to got to bed early. I moan a little (ok sometimes a lot) about our bedtime drama but in reality I love being able to go to bed early every night and not feel guilty.

No one judges me if I  binge watch Disney movies all weekend.

My love for superheros is always explained by the fact that I have kids!

“Motherhood: All love begins and ends there.” —Robert Browning

You know that moment when you arrive at school or a sports match and your child spots you for the first time. It is a few seconds of eye contact but their whole demeanor changes, they relax because they have just spotted their safe place. It doesn’t matter how old they get, in fact those moments come to mean more the older they get. When they are teens they can’t run across the parking lot, excited to see you, so the eye contact conveys so much. It is in those split seconds that I love being a mother the most because it is then I realise just how strong the bond is that we share and just how absolutely amazing being a mother is.

I would love to hear some of the reasons you love being a mother.

I love this! I feel so blessed to have my kids. And as mums, we think are kids are the bees knees, right? (I didn’t even know bees HAD knees…)

I homeschool my three kids and I know that we definitely have a strong bond as a family unit. Sometimes I have to remind myself to just pause and drink in the moment, because they are growing up so fast and before I know it, they’ll be off travelling, at university or bringing home ‘a friend they’d like us to meet’…{gasp!}.

And sometimes, it’s like you said – just a brief moment of eye contact can convey so much!

Now I just wanna grab one of my kids and snuggle ’em!

Sometimes I don’t! LOL. But seriously, I love that my children love me regardless of how shitty I feel. I love the hugs and snuggles when they feel like giving them. And I love teaching them the values I hold dear and what I hope for them to take into the world.

I love being a mom too. It’s not easy but definitely worth it. I can’t imagine myself not to be one. It’s just like the best thing that happened to me.

You summed it all up so well. The joy of sharing their excitement when they excel at something (and being there when they know they messed up but we still support them) Life is so competitive and stressful and sometime after a bad day in the office it just needs that smile from the kids to melt those troubles away. by the way love that throwback picture you included

Oh man, where to even begin. I know it’s cliche, but my absolute favorite thing is the pat on the face with the “I love you, mama,” for no reason at all. Doesn’t happen a lot with a spicy three-year-old, but gets me every time.
