Reasons My Kids Have Thrown Tantrums

Maz, from Caffeine and Fairydust recently did a bit of a makeover on her blog and I was over there checking it out (go look, it’s so pretty) and stumbled across this post about 60 reasons my toddler had a bad day. It got me thinking about all the irrational things my kids have thrown tantrums over.

For the sake of privacy and protection of my children’s sterling reputations I am not going to name which of them has gotten upset over these things. If you have been reading for a while you will probably be able to figure some of them out.

    1. Why does my sibling have a bigger bedroom window than I do?Reasons My Kids Throw Tantrums|HarassedMom
  1. My pants are WIGGLY!
  2. The tea is disgusting because I made it.
  3. The word sit is the same in English as it is in Afrikaans.
  4. We drive too fast and it hurts their throat.
  5. Breakfast/lunch/dinner was placed on the wrong plate. The correct plate is unknown to anyone alive.
  6. A sibling stole the only umbrella in the house and now the other sibling is going to get sick and die. Yes really!
  7. Halfway on the walk to school, kid needs to use the loo. Insists on walking home because school looks are unnacceptable.
  8. Kid throws lunchbox across parking lot because I put the water bottle in the wrong place.
  9. You will only sleep if you have the duvet that is currently keeping your sibling warm while they sleep.
  10. Apples have skin on them.
  11. The answer I gave to the question is incorrect. Even if the question was “Whats 2+2” and I say 4, if they are looking for a different answer then it is incorrect.
  12. The clean linen stinks.
  13. The pork is not chicken. As a result my children probably can not identify the different types of meat.
  14. The bread has a whole.
  15. You fetched me too late (or too early).Reasons My Kids Throw Tantrums|HarassedMom
  16. They can not bath first. Someone else must bath first. They always have to bath first.
  17. The cookie is broken.
  18. The water in their bottle is old.
  19. The scrambled egg has brown pieces in it.
  20. There is white stuff on oranges.
  21. WHY did you bring me delicious home cooked food for lunch! I wanted 2-min noodles.

Number 16 is a popular one… one day I’m too early the next day I’m too late. Or I didn’t come before M’s Daddy or I came after P’s mommy :). I’ve learnt I can’t win. Today we had a melt down because she wanted to sing the farm song but we had to sing together and I stopped midway as I needed to sneeze… SIGH

Yes! My toddler has tantrums about the most ridiculous things. It is funny (in hindsight) the things that set them off!

Kids throw tantrums for the strangest reasons. My daughter just had one over the color of her plate.

HAHAHA oh man kids are such divas. I was hoping it ends after the “bowl is the wrong color” phase but I guess not.

Emotions are big things for tiny humans to deal with. My daughter gave a huge fit because I wouldn’t let her take her stuffed dog into walmart with her. It’s amazing the little things that can set off a tantrum.

Ha, yes. Toddlers can be so confusing. My twins are two right now. I have no idea why they are mad half the time. 🙂

It’s always funny what throws their emotions wild. My daughter throws a tantrum because I don’t let her climb and break her head open often.

I love this! It’s so funny what can set off a kid. My son has had some good ones as well. He threw a tantrum the other day because he finished his banana. He didn’t want another one, he was just upset that he finished the one!

hahahaha this sounds like Emma!!! How do you even reason with that!

    Hi Laura,
This gave me a good laugh! 🙂 Just earlier my youngest boy had a tantrum over the plate he was given mistakenly. He didn’t like that the plate had pink flowers! I said it was a mistake, we could change it. And he said, “You must never give a boy anything with flowers and the color pink!” He was crying saying this. haha
Thanks for making me laugh, Laura.
    Cheers,
    Jessica

My kids do this as well. Jack needs the green plate and Emma the pink – you can not mix it up! (Do you think it makes the food taste differently?)

My oldest always throws a tantrum over how his hot dogs are cooked! He just wants them thrown in the microwave, but not so long they change shape, just so they are luke warm. When I grill them it royal meltdown because even though they are not burnt, but do have light brown grill marks on them, he insists he can’t eat them now.
