WHO moved Spiderman?

Untitled design (12)

So there I am minding my own business, trying for the 6th day in a row to get my About Me page updated, when I hear the words that make me go cold, “MOM! WHERE’S MY SPIDERMAN?”Sully

I quickly retrace our steps from the last time I saw Spiderman – he was in the car, then we took him out, he never made it to the bath so he must be somewhere downstairs. I check the toy room, unpack the boxes, look under the shelves – he is not there. While I was getting my heart rate up looking for the man in red, my toddler was repeating “Where’s he mom! WHERE IS SPIDERMAN!” I think it may be my greatest failure as a parent – my children are unable to look for things.

I dismantle the couch cushions. Nothing. In the kitchen cupboards. Nothing. Outside. Nothing. At this point I think the people of Poland can hear my son’s screams of “WHERE IS MY SPIDERMAN”

IronManEventually after exhausting every option I blame David and say Spiderman is in Dad’s car. Obviously that never went well and I suspect David heard him shout “IT IS NOT IN MY DAD”S CAR”.

By now I am cursing Spiderman under my breathe and admit defeat, sit down, put my ear phones in and carry on working on my About Me page.

What happens next do you think?

Jack saunters into the toy room and says “Oh there is Spiderman!”

WHAAAAAAT?

There on the floor, in plain sight is Spiderman!IMG_3055

HOW! HOW! I looked there. A few times!

HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?

We do this little dance a few times a day. No matter how much I watch the toys I know he likes to have near him, no matter how often I do toy role call, they STILL disappear!

I do realise in the bigger picture with issues like poverty, the rising cost of food, that this really isn’t an issue except it IS! It is when your toddler is having a tantrum that will scare the big man from Game of Thrones into submission. It is when the toy just randomly appears RIGHT where you just looked!

PLEASE PLEASE tell me this happens in your house? Please tell me the toys also torment you?

  1. Both my kids have a comforter that was bought in America! My first advice to anyone is that you give a baby a nappy, cloth, lappie you can buy from WW, Pep, Ackermans, anywhere but import from USA! I eventually managed to buy duplicates (bec one was a previous year, the 2 cost me about USD 100!!!) Ridiculous! And having 2 is sometimes worse, bec u think, oh well, give the other for now and the other will return! I have walked Hypermarket looking for a dropped Tessie and even driven back to a car park and waited for someone to move their car to retrieve it! I feel your pain and hear their screams!

  2. I’m sorry, Laura, I’m just laughing!

We have other issues but I’ve never had lost toy issues except for now in April when we couldn’t find Thursday for 30 minutes at night. I’ve always stressed to these two that I don’t play with their things so I’m not going to look for it. They believe me so they generally keep track of their stuff. Thursday and Friday are the only things they’re really attached to.

I can understand that TERROR when you hear the scream!!!!!

PS just realised we have some of this with clothes – i conveniently say “oh it must be in the wash” 🙂

  3. Glad to see its not only my house except with us its not only the toys its keys, that favourite pair of pj’s,t shirt oh and nightmare of all nightmares when the dummy goes missing right on bedtime and just as you have settled the child with out the dummy suddenly not only 1 but like 3 dummies appear right where they are normally stored makes me want to scream! im actually convinced we have our own burmuda triangle in our house sometimes

  4. Hahaha.. this reminded me of Hannah and her dummy. Boy oh boy, when we lost the dummy I used to feel physically ill because I knew what was coming. And I used to buy a specific one in BULK because she refused to suck anything else! LOL! We have this same toy drama but now that the kids are older I have a really simple approach. 1. Its your toy, right? 2. You play with it, right? 3. So you must have lost it, right? 4. WELL THEN GO AND FIND IT. lol
